Had a lovely evening at this pub last night .we were celebrating my birthday .we all ordered something different and all the food was beautifully presented and tasty The service was excellent and we had a lovely smiley waitress who was very attentive. Wish this was my local pub .but we were staying at an Air B and B.

You can always rely on quality food and great service. There are always fantastic events scheduled throughout the year, from live music to steam engine displays. A fine example of a great pub.

Visiting Blandford for a couple of days with my wife and baby. Looked to have good reviews apart from a few so we thought we would give it a go.
Was quite surprised to see that you had to go down a couple of steps and then up a smaller step to get in the front door. Clearly this place do not want people with babies or people in wheelchairs here.
Once we were in, we stood at a stand which in other places I've visited you would wait at to be seated. We got some very strange looks from the people already at the bar. After about a minute wait (felt a lot longer due to the odd looks we were getting) a lady at the bar quite abruptly asked what we were waiting for. I asked if we could just sit anywhere and she said yes apart from the restaurant which we found odd.
Anyway, the wife and I looked at their small expensive menu we made out choice and then went to the bar to order. The same lady from earlier was at the till. I walked up with a smile and she just looked down at something and was clear to me that for whatever reason she didn't want to serve me. I said hello and she finally looked up. I asked if we could order some food. She looked at me as if I just told her that I was the reincarnation of Andre the Giant and quite rudely told me "no you can't, kitchen ain't open til 6" I explained that it doesn't say that on the menu, the website or any signs in the pub. She just shrugged her shoulders. I walked back to our table with the same odd stares from before and we then left.
I've read a few other reviews on here about how this pub seems to only like locals and not people who are not from the area. With the looks and attitude of the staff....I completely agree.

It is astonishing that a staff member can be SO RUDE to customers they wouldn’t want you to visit again … I’m not that local and visited twice, my wife with friends visited once with a look “up and down” decided there is no table for food!
Long straight haired girl needs to have a “chat with” before we ever come back
The locals… welcome
Anyone else… don’t bother
Check out my report in the Echo soon…

Most pleasant Sunday lunch out we've enjoyed of late. Lovely fresh home cooked food, fair value. Good choices. Efficient, friendly & professional staff, a really well run pub!

We visited as a group of six on Saturday 29/06/24. I found this gem through Google maps, I just googled pubs near to the postcode we were staying. What a find, from the minute we walked in we were made welcome. The staff thought if everything they could to ensure we enjoyed our evening. The first lady offered my Hubby a taster before committing to a pint of the real ale. It was most appreciated but it unleashed the cheeky men in our party. She handled them with skill and charm and kept them at heel.🤣🤣 So sorry I didn't get hername. By heck the beer was good.
Onto the food, well what can we say?? I'm sat here now a week later and can still taste it. The variety and quality was superb. I don't know about giving them 5 stars, they deserve a darn sight more. All the staff were cheerful and helpful. So from the cheeky northerners, THANK YOU ALL!!
Pity you're so far away, wishing you all a Happy and Prosperous future.

Lovely traditional pub with a wide range of beer and good food. We visited on a Thursday evening and it was pretty busy.
I think it is one of the only pubs in Stourpaine, but service was great and the food was lovely. I had the steak pudding and chips, which I've not had for years but it was gorgeous. My wife had ham, egg and chips, which again she said tasted delicious.
The pub has a whole raft of service mens hats dotted throughout the place and has had a visit by King Charles when he was a prince.
Lovely place, well worth a visit.

Visited here twice for food whilst on our stay and we were certainly not disappointed at all. As you can see from our photos from our evening meals they were delicious, they were presented well and they tasted fantastic. Well worth the money we paid and the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It's also dog friendly and our dog loved it as well. Do not miss out when visiting Stourpaine.

Our first visit to The White Horse. We were halfway along a local trail way walk and followed signs to reach this delightful establishment. Nice welcome, good quality ale, food and service. Fortunately we were there at midday and had an early lunch. Otherwise they were fully booked. Looking forward to an evening visit.

Absolute gem of a pub, excellent Sunday lunch which was massive. Staff were lovely and very attentive. The pub was lovely, warm, inviting and quirky. Have been before for steam up but had to re visit to try the food and so glad we did. Lovely experience and we will definitely return
